Irene Reeves

Irene Harris Reeves, age 96, born on June 17, 1926, in Birmingham, AL, departed this world for her eternal home in Heaven on October 24, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Paul Christopher Reeves, and her great-great grandchild Alyson Irene Wassman. She is survived by six children: James L. Reeves (Charlotte), Geraldine Lewis (John), Joseph H. Reeves (Martina), David C. Reeves (Laurie), Catherine Mietz (the late Gerald Mietz), and Paula Reeves (Amy). Nineteen grandchildren: Boyd Reeves (Sharon), Susan Sansing, Melinda Shell (Howard), Lisa Phillips (Jason), Brian Lewis (DeAnna), Rebecca Lugo (Ahmed), Jonathan Lewis, Heather Coleman (Mark), Joseph Reeves Jr. (Teresa), Elizabeth Boger (Mark), Shelley McKee (Chris), Stephen Reeves (Emily), Laura Ellis (Cade), Ashley Reeves (Alex Daniels), Jennifer Roberts, Garrett Mietz, Boone Reeves, Dustin Reeves, David Reeves. Twenty Seven great-grandchildren; Jennifer Pehrson (Casey), Brianna Reeves, Elizabeth Sansing, Cameron Sansing, Matthew Wassman (Abby), Maddison "Maddie" Hoyt, Anna Lewis, Christian Lewis, Isabella Lugo, Mia Lugo, Gabriel Lugo, Liam Coleman, Simon Coleman, Nolan Boger, Ian Boger, Keegan Allen, Hayden Roberts, Finn McKee, Eloise McKee, June Reeves, Bailey Irene Reeves, Lucy Daniels, Ruby Daniels, Kylie Mietz, Cole Mietz, Brayden Mietz, Zander Mietz, and we are expecting number 28; a grandson in February (Cade and Laura Ellis). Six great-great grandchildren; Layla Pehrson, Paige Pehrson, Mila Potts, Autumn Wassman, Mason Wassman, and Oakleigh Mietz.
Irene always said her crowning jewel was her 58 direct descendants. She will always be remembered for her unfailing love and devotion to her family. Irene was a very faithful member of Bayview Heights Church for more than 35 years. In her later years she attended Cottage Hill Baptist Church, where she especially enjoyed her ladies Bible study class. She was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard and with her flowers. She insisted on mowing her own lawn (with a push mower) until she was in her mid-80's!
Irene was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a very proud great, great grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family is especially thankful to Katrina Shamburger, her caregiver at the Allen Memorial Home.

Pallbearers are grandsons Joseph "Joss" Reeves, Jonathan Lewis, Garrett Mietz, Stephen Reeves, Dustin Reeves, and Matthew Wassman.

Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday October 31, 2022 beginning at 12:00 p.m. and followed by a Chapel Service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
