James Ira Cauley, Jr
James Ira Cauley, Jr., age 92, of Grand Bay, Alabama, passed away January 21, 2018 and now rests in the arms of his Savior. Mr. Cauley was born February 18, 1925, in Kreole, MS; to James Ira and Hannah Krebs Cauley and had been a resident of Pascagoula, MS for many years before he moved to Grand Bay, Alabama in 1974. Mr. Cauley was a veteran of World War II and served with Honor in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon; earning a Bronze Star. Mr. Cauley retired from Civil Service in 1990. Mr. Cauley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Cauley was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Cauley was preceded in death by his first wife Teta Naquin Cauley, his parents, Ira and Hannah Cauley, his brothers, Marvin and John Cauley, his sister Dot Cauley Clark and grandson John Loftus. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Cauley; his children: James Ronald (Ron) (Paullette) Cauley, Steven H. (Rhonda) Cauley; and stepchildren: Harold (Myla) Vaughn all of Grand Bay and Linda Vaughn (Roy) Gasaway of Pascagoula, and his sister Ethel Graham of Kingsport, TN. Also surviving PawPaw are 9 grandchildren: Mark (Shannon) Cauley, Matt (Ambre) Cauley, Karen (David) Diamond, Jennifer (Kevin) Elliott, Kevin Cauley, RJ Gasaway, Hunter Gasaway, Stacy (Craig) Loftus DuFour and Ronnie Loftus and 14 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. Visitation and funeral service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 followed by the funeral service at 12:00. Mr. Cauley's nephew, Deacon Billy Graham, will preside over the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Mr. Cauley's grandsons: Mark Cauley, Matt Cauley, Kevin Cauley, RJ Gasaway, Hunter Gasaway and Ronnie Loftus. Burial will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, MS.
