James Wallace Cockrell, a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on April 7, 2022 at the age of 81. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Sherry Frances Cockrell, and his parent's, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Franklin (Dick) Cockrell of Mobile.
He graduated from Murphy High School in 1958 and attended Springhill College and the University of Alabama. He retired after being in the automotive business for many years in Mobile and most recently was active in property investments and management. He enjoyed camping, fishing, Alabama football, and telling jokes.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Dr. Mike and Stephanie Cockrell, son and daughter in law, Tim and Chrissy Cockrell, brother and sister in law, Frank and Susan Cockrell, sister in law, JoAnn Glasscock, sister in law, Jeri Pearson and his devoted friend, Herb Coley. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Carson Cockrell, Andrea Stakely (Johnston), Bailey Cockrell, Erica Cockrell, Pearson Cockrell, and Cage Cockrell and many other loving family members.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 11 at 1:00 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held immediately after at 2:00.
Pallbearers will be Carson Cockrell, Pearson Cockrell, Cage Cockrell, Johnston Stakely, Aaron Faust, Shane Petrie, and Lee Wright.
Services will be officiated by Pastor Kenny Pierce.
