James William Dickson, also known as "Jim"-"Poppa"-"Pops" and "PawPaw", a longtime resident of Theodore, AL, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the age of 64. He was a member of Irvington Fellowship Bible Church and was a retired carpenter. Jim enjoyed stock car races, hot rod cars, fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Clayborne "PeePaw" Dickson; his mother, Lorine Bunch "MeeMaw" Dickson; and three brothers, Leroy Dickson, John C. Dickson and George L. Dickson. His survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marianne Collum Dickson; his children, Damien L. (Nadya) Dickson, Joseph L. (Christina) Dickson, Leanne Dickson Darwin, Suzanne Dickson (Rob) Atchison, and Haylee A. Barnes; two sisters, Rosie Dickson Badon and Joyce Dickson (Huey) Parker; his brother, Larry "Weezer" Dickson; seven grandchildren, Shepherd Darwin, Evelyn Dickson, Vivien Dickson, Austin Atchison, Rosie Atchison, Alexander Nary and Andrew Nary; other relatives and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Brother Gene Clark, will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mr. Dickson's name be made to Irvington Fellowship Bible Church, 9350 Matlock Road, Irvington, AL 36544.
