James Gorum

James Marvin Gorum, born on September 4, 1931, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024 at the age of 93. He was a devoted husband to his late wife of 62 years, Lillie Marie Gorum, and a loving father to his late son, Keith Gorum. James was also preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Gorum, his siblings Andrew Gorum, Lois Bennett, Barbara Mitchell, and Flora "Dolly" Gorum and a granddaughter, Abby Wright.

He leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and strong family values. He is survived by his children Randy (Glynnis) Gorum, Kevin (Sherry) Gorum, and Flora (Chad) Glass, his brother Raymond Gorum and sister Lucy Nell Berry. James was also a proud grandfather to Bradley, Brooke, Caleb, Noah, Dylan, Brittany, Lance, Jenny and Ashley, as well as to 13 great grandchildren.

James joined the U.S. Army in 1950 where he served honorably as a medic during the Korean War. After his service, his long career in the HVAC industry showcased his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. James also had a passion for Alabama football, always found sporting his Crimson Tide attire. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will be deeply cherished.

James Marvin Gorum will be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, dedication to his family, and his humility. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His family will honor his memory with a funeral service on Saturday September, 28th at 12:00pm from the graveside at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. His family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 10:00 until 12:00.
