James Edward Kirk, age 79, died on Sunday, July 31,2022 following a long illness in Mobile, Al. He was born in Marietta Georgia May 11, 1943 to Oliver and Grace (outlaw) Kirk. He was the oldest of two children. James was an active member of Woodridge Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher for several years. James developed a love of painting and could often be found behind a paintbrush. After graduating from high school he attended Troy State and then followed in his fathers footsteps by working in road construction until his retirement. James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Terry (Moore)Kirk and his three daughters Elizabeth (late Jimmy) Hopkins, Jennifer(James) Thomas, and Lynda Lewis, along with seven grandchildren Brandi (Adam) Swedenburg, Tyler Hopkins, Joshua Lewis, Haleigh Hopkins, Emilee Lewis, Hannah Thomas, and Avery Lewis. He is survived by his sister Martha Ann (late Ronald) Black and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10 am at Woodridge Baptist Church, 2700 Schillinger Rd S Mobile, AL 36695, with the Reverend Garry Harred officiating. Pallbearers to include Tyler Hopkins, Joshua Lewis, James Thomas, Pete Lewis, Wayne (Scooter) Greenhill, and Larry Ensley. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens in Mobile, Al. The family will greet friends from 9am till time of the service on Thursday, August 4th.
