James Absolum Longino Jr, (83) husband of Elizabeth Jane (Howard) of Mobile, Alabama, was promoted to glory on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.
Born September 22, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he was the son of James A. Longino, Sr & Monica C. (Farrar).
Jim and his wife Jane served as Salvation Army officers from 1957-1974. His first retirement was from the Mobile County Tax Assessor's office in 1999, and he went on to work for the Salvation Army Southern Territory as an auditor until his second retirement in 2011. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jane and their three children: Jackie Davidson (Matthew), Jim Longino III, and Jerry Longino (Jomae), 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and his sisters Jean Hiler (Bob) and Joan McMillan (Wayne). Jim is most remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humor and his gifted trumpet playing.
The funeral service will be held at Woodridge Baptist Church (2700 Schillinger Rd South) on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00am. Visitation will be before the service from 9:00-11:00am.
