James Mcneil

March 3, 1945 — July 6, 2019

James Lee McNeil, 74, of Mobile, AL, passed away Saturday, July, 6, surrounded by his family. James was a native of Atmore, AL and served in the Army during the Vietnam era. He attended Troy, South Alabama and Auburn University, he was a retired manager at J&J Furniture store, a long term member and former Commodore of Buccaneer Yacht Club, and an avid sailor and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Lee Lester, and his Father Thomas E. McNeil, Sr.
James is survived by his wife, Jan (Spann) McNeil; his two daughters, Melissa Peters and Angela McNeil; his stepson, James Gafford; grandchildren, Bryce and Baylen Peters, Wesley, Victoria, and Emily Johnson; his siblings, Thomas E. McNeil, Jr. and David M. (Barbara) McNeil, Kimberly McNeil Brown; and his nieces and nephews, Michael, Samantha, Thomas, Letha, Lanita, Gina, Brenna, Tyler and Jenna.
The celebration of his life will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL 36619, on Tuesday July 9, at 2 PM with visitation to follow until 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to E.A. Roberts Alzheimer's Center, or a charity of your choice.
