James Dark Thompson, Jr., known to everyone as Buddy passed away December 3, 2017, in Mobile Infirmary surrounded by his family. A native of Mobile, Al, and a 1968 graduate of Murphy High School where he played offensive tackle for the Panther football team and was chosen All City.In 1970 he married the love of his life, Janie Williams Thompson. They made their home in Mobile until 1993 at which time they moved to Dauphin Island, where he enjoyed his favorite past time floundering. Prior to retirement he was a salesman for Fastening Solutions, Inc. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Dark Sr., and Eva Ramsey Thompson, brothers-in-law, Karl Cecil Williams and Bob Shelton, and niece Amber Berry. He is survived by his wife Janie, two sons; Jason Daniel Thompson of Los Angeles, CA and Jarrod Dark Thompson of Dauphin Island and one grandson, Aidan Dark Thompson, 6 sisters; Linda Shelton, Patricia Nix, Sharron (Tommy) Ward, Deborah Berry, Cynthia (Donald) Lee and Judy Brady. One brother, Billy (Valerie) Brady. Sisters-in-law; Joy (Jimmy) Lyons, Cynthia (Bill) Catlow, Fay (Steve) Radcliff, Lisa (James) Poole and brother-in-law Harry Williams, 24 Nieces and nephews, 34 great-nieces and nephews, other family and countless friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 pm, in the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619.
