James Edward Walker, Sr- A native of Mobile and resident of Daphne, AL died on Friday July 10, 2015 at the age of 88. Mr. Walker was a kind and gentle man who showed God's love by example. He was a lifelong Episcopalian who grew up at St John's, raised his family at St Luke's and spent his retirement years at St Paul's in Daphne. He dedicated his time and service to St Paul's Thrift Store. Jim was a proud Marine Corps veteran, serving 22 years, including tours in Korea and Okinawa. He often said he had seen the world during his time as a merchant marine prior to enlisting. He worked another 18 years at Ciba-Geigy. Jim was a people person and delighted in the social life and activities at Catherine Place prior to his recent convalescence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ola Mae Marshall Walker and a daughter, Kathy Walker Clement. He is survived by 3 sons, James E. (Martha) Walker, Jr, Thomas M. (Evelyn) Walker and Terry A. (Beverly) Walker; 8 grandchildren, Brian (Kayleigh), Ben (Donna), Katy (Brandon), Kristen (Shane), Casey (Peter), John Alan, Megan and Gina. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 12 Noon with visitation from 10:30 until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at St Paul's Daphne on Tuesday at 4:00 preceded by a Gathering of Friends at 3:00 PM.
