James Andrew Dyess, age 78, of Mobile, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam. His ready smile endeared him to many.
He was preceded in death by parents, Arthur E. Dyess and Ellen Pearl Brown Dyess; two sisters, Nathala Smith and Nelda Dyess Britton; one brother, Bob E. Dyess; and one niece, Linda Parker.
Survivors include two nieces, Rebecca Britton of Mobile, Alabama, and Deborah Smith of The Villages, Florida; one nephew, Arthur Edwin Smith of Mobile, Alabama; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-great-nieces, and great-great-great-nephews.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held Friday, July 10, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
