Janelle Kuck

April 29, 1936 — August 19, 2023

Mrs. Janelle Moody Kuck born April 29, 1936, departed this life to her Heavenly Home Saturday, August 19, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years Reverend Herman John Kuck. Her parents Jasper Benjamin Moody and Ruby Pierce Moody. Her sisters Vera Moody Dixon Rainwater and Honoreen Moody Jones. Brothers Edsel Ford Moody and Marion Jasper Moody. She is survived by her four most treasured gifts, her children: Jennifer Kuck Foster (Gene), John David Kuck, Stephen Herman Kuck, Sr. (Anita), Karen Kuck Sloan (Bill), eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. Her brother Melvin Russell Moody (Gracie).

She was born and raised in the Palestine Church Community located between Wilmer and Tanner Williams, Alabama. Janelle grew up and accepted Christ as her Savior at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church where her parents were Charter Members. She attended Tanner Williams Elementary School and graduated from Semmes High School in 1956. In her early adulthood, she was employed at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile and for the U.S. Navy at Barin Field in Elberta, AL. She was a dedicated and faithful pastor's wife for 47 years as they ministered to many individuals at ten different churches and surrounding communities in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida as well as serving on the local mission field. Music was her passion, and southern gospel was her favorite. She studied various music styles, music theory, writing and accompaniment under professionals in Mobile, at the Stamps-Baxter School of Music, The Speers Family School of Music in Houston, Texas, and The Charles Novell School of Music in Murray, Kentucky, and played a variety of instruments (piano, organ, guitar, dulcimer . . . to name a few). Additionally, she was self-employed as a piano and organ instructor for 25 plus years, and a Personal Consultant and Manager for Jaffra Cosmetics, Inc. She enjoyed attending church, traveling, shopping, reading, and gardening. Janelle was thrilled to visit with family and friends whether over a cup of coffee, while shelling a bushel of peas, sitting down to a meal or via a phone call. She was always eager to have a good conversation and was definitely a social butterfly. She will be missed by all, even her loyal companion, Violet the cat, and grand dogs: Bleu, Bear and Ginger who visited her daily. The family would like to thank her personal and loyal caregivers for the kindness, dedication and compassion shown to their mom/grandmother during her lengthy illness. They could not have endured without them. Also, they would like to thank the team from Southern Care Hospice and especially her designated RN, Chaplain, CNA and others who administered to her. The family visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, with friends received at 1:00 - 2:00 pm, August 25, 2023, at Snow Road Missionary Baptist Church, 809 Snow Road, Mobile, Alabama 36608, with the service to follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at the Palestine Church Community Cemetery, 4300 Palestine Road, Wilmer, Alabama 36587.
