Janet (Jeanette) Previto Thornton, a lifelong native of the Mobile, AL area and resident at Mobile Nursing and Rehabillation Nursing Home, entered into her heavenly home on October 17, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Lula Mae Previto, her husband of 43 years, Cecil R. Thornton, Sr. (Shorty), Step Son, Cecil R. Thornton, Jr (Pedro); her sister & brother in law, Evelyn & Ense Tillman, her sister & brother in law, Marie & Calvin Melvin, Sr., her brother & his wife Charles & Cloverine Previto. her brother & his wife, Dee & Mary Previto, along with a beloved aunt & her husband, Lucille & Ernest Walker. Plus many other dear relatives and friends. Janet was a member of New Life (Crawford) Assembly of God for 24 years and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. She loved arts and crafts, crochet and cooking. She was known for her coconut and German Chocolate Cakes, “White Fruit Salad”, Lemon and Cherry Pies. Janet touched all that knew her in a special way but she loved her family dearly as well as her church and enjoyed participating in all church activities while she was able. She was even known to watch Alabama football games on occasion. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Donna (Richard) Pierce, Joseph (Cecelia) Thornton, two sisters, Dot (LV) Horne and Shirley (Clyde) Clark, a beloved sister in law, Opal Hill, five grandchildren, Brandi (Mark) Stevens, Aaron (Chasity) Pierce, Greg Thornton, Elizabeth (Tyler) Massengale, and Katelyn Thornton and eight great grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah and Abigail Stevens, Braelyn Pierce, Wyatt Massengale, Jase Thornton, Kolby Fontenot and Oliver(Ollie) Massengale. Also 8 special nieces that she held very dear to her heart, Beverly (BK) Stork, Cyndi Clark, Vicki Brown, Shari Simmons, Michelle Cain, Darlene Cortez, Betty Monteith, Brenda Ledbetter, other relatives and friends. Her pallbearers are Aaron Pierce, Mark Stevens, David Brown, Greg Thornton, Tyler Massengale and Dustin Bowles, with honorary pallbearers being, Richard Pierce, Clyde Clark. LV Horn, Rev. Gary Finch, James Rice and Russ Stork. Funeral services will be held October 21, 2019 at 10:00 from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation to the public from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM. Interment to follow the service at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
