Janice Faye Skinner Morton, age 75, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away at Mobile Infirmary Hospital on Sunday, November 11, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in McComb, Mississippi on December 1, 1942.
She is preceded in death by her son, Paul Fredic Morton; mother, Edith Brown Skinner; father, Emmit Grady Skinner; and brother, Robert Skinner.
Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Fred Sumrall Morton of Mobile, AL; son, Christopher Grady "Chris" Morton (Agnes Lowe) of Mon Louis Island, AL; one granddaughter and the apple of her eye, Amanda Joy Pettry Morton of Mobile, AL; daughter-in-law, Ester Lynn Pettry of Remlap, AL; two sisters, Sharon Rollins of Silver Springs, FL and Frances Thompson of Ocala, FL; and a number of other loving relatives and many friends.
Janice was a graduate of Theodore High School and St Frances College where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. She was a registered nurse for 40 years. She worked at USA Medical Center, Springhill Medical Center, and Providence Hospital. She spent the last 4 years before retirement as a traveling nurse. She retired in 2004 to take care of her elderly mother.
Janice was a devout Christian and member of Day Springs Baptist Church. She loved her family and her favorite times were the ones she spent with her granddaughter shopping, cooking, and preparing for the holidays.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
