Janis Lowe

January 1, 1938 — July 2, 2023

Mobile, AL

Janis Seibert Lowe peacefully entered into Jesus' embrace, surrounded by her loving daughters on July 2, 2023, at age 85. A native Mobilian, Janice was born on New Year's Day, 1938. Her family later moved to Washington County where she graduated from Leroy High School. Janis then captured the heart of Jimmy George Lowe, Sr., and returned to the Mobile area. Janis and Jimmy were passionate about faith, family, and community relationships. Janis has been a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church for 45 years and is known in the community because of her deep commitment to her family. Her greatest calling in life was motherhood, wholeheartedly pouring herself into the lives of her three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Janis was fiercely protective and supportive, leaving a legacy of love throughout her 85 years. She understood that it is in life's experiences that we become who we are created to be, inspiring lifelong memories. Janis's strong sense of family translated to traditions; inviting her family to gatherings, events, and even vacations to celebrate a strong commitment to Christian values. Her generous actions speak for her heart in ways words would seem inadequate. As her family grew, Janis was very intentional, building special relationships with even her youngest descendants to ensure they had a strong sense of family and identity. Her resilient, courageous spirit will live on through those who love her.

Janis is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillian Dykes Seibert, her husband of 59 years, Jimmy George Lowe, Sr., and her son Jimmy (Jimbo) Lowe, Jr.

Surviving family includes, daughters, Cindy (Tom, deceased) Russell, Chris (Mark) Chavers, and five grandchildren: Candi (Chad) Wilson, Jody (Mindy) Russell, Courtney (Andy) Tillman, Bryce (Sydney) Chavers.
