Jean Helton Bryant, age 75 a native of Hattiesburg, MS. and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away on January 22, 2016. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Otho Helton and June McLemore Helton and her brother, Wayne Helton. She is survived by her loving husband, Dwight Bryant, and by three children, Theresa Davidson, Mike (Cheryl) Kinard and Danny (Lynette) Kinard; two step-children, Monty (Debbie) Bryant and Barry (Pam) Bryant. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Nancy Helton, Janet (Dr. James) Ellis of Fort Smith, AR; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host on nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean was a registered lobbyist for many non-profit organizations, such as the American Lung Association, the American Cancer Society, the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Alabama, Alabama Citizens for Life and National Right to Life. She lobbied in Montgomery as well as Washington, D.C. While working as a volunteer at the Cancer Society she helped pass the first smoking ordinance in Alabama. She also started the I Can Cope program to help families dealing with cancer. Jean was a member of Theodore United Methodist Church where she was a certified Lay Speaker. She also taught Sunday School. Her interest were bible study, antique roses, RV Camping and old movies. Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, January 25, 2016 starting at 10 AM . Funeral services will be held at 12 noon in the Chapel. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens
