Jeannie Ellen May

Ellen Culpepper May, Mobile native and lifetime resident, passed away on March 18, 2023. She was born on November 11, 1945, to parents Archie and Jewel Culpepper. Ms. May graduated from Murphy High School and attended the University of Alabama. She worked 25 years for the US Census Bureau, received the Census Award of Excellence in 2000 and retired as Senior Field Representative in 2012. Her favorite job was being the owner of Crazy for Pets pet sitting which she retired from in 2018. Ms. May was also a devoted member of Spring Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved her kitty cats and was passionate about playing card games, especially pinochle and canasta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Jewel Culpepper and sister, Betty Sue Moser.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Alexander (Tami) May and Allison (Marcus) Josephson; grandchildren, Corbin May and Brooke May; brother, La Marr Culpepper; special nieces, Kimberly Doerner and Jeannie Locke; nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 9:00 am until the graveside service at 10:00 am in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
