Jerry Wayne Loper Sr

September 17, 1940 - March 13, 2025

Jerry went home to be with the Lord and Savior on March 13, 2025. He was born on September 17, 1940 (Age 84) to William Loper and Edna Thompson Loper. Jerry was raised in Chricton and lived next door to his Mother and Father for many years until he saved enough money to build the house of his dreams by hand in Semmes, Al with his wife and two children. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Nubby and Darrol Loper, three sisters Nell Loper Crabtree, Linda Loper Fincher and Earline Loper Jordan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Virginia Loper and two children Jerry Wayne Loper Jr and Jamie Loper Johnson (husband George), two siblings Norvell and Joel Loper. He was Pawpaw to his grandchildren and spent time with each and everyone of them on a regular basis. Grandchildren - Jason Loper (wife Marla), Brandi Pelletier (husband Jeremy). Three great grandchildren - Landon Loper, Maddie Loper and Lukas Pellietier. Seven stepchildren - Dennis Abbott Jr, Bentley Abbott, Haley Miles, Ellie Kate & Olivia Miles, Blake Johnson, Lauren Johnson and Huntlee Zehner.

Jerry shared his Fathers passion and love for the family property (The Camp - Country) in St. Stephens, Al. He would have lived there if he could have convinced his wife. He loved hunting, fishing, setting fishing lines on the creek and planted trees of all kinds all over this property and hunting land and swimming in the creek. He worked countless hours on the land that all his kids and grandchildren were a part of and have made some wonderful memories that will never be forgotten. He was a great Daddy, PawPaw, Husband and provider. Hard work from daylight to dark and providing for his family was what he enjoyed. He is loved by many and a so very Honest, Frank and Genuine person.

A celebration of his life will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL) on Thursday, March 20th. Family visitation will begin at 10:30, Guest at 11:00 - 12:00. Services will be held at Noon in the chapel. Funeral internment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
