Jerry Bob Widder passed away after battling a long illness at the age of 72 on Tuesday, June 20,2023, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Jerry was born in Antigo, Wisconsin and resided in Theodore. AL. He was the fifth of seven children.
Jerry was preceded in death by his Father Arnold R. Widder, Mother Gertrude Tenney Widder Spiers, brothers Arlon A. Widder, Edward R. Widder, and his daughter Barbara Ella Widder.
Jerry worked with heavy machinery, starting out as a motor grader when he was 16 years old. Jerry said, "If I can climb up on, I can operate it". He was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at his hunting club in Clarke County, where he could be "at camp". He enjoyed spending this time with his family, and close friends. He enjoyed watching Alabama Crimson Tide football. Jerry was a Merchant Mariner, a welterweight boxer, worked on the Wallace Tunnel, Foley Beach Express, and drove a truck, hauling produce from Florida to New York.
Jerry is survived by his his wife, Jerrie Anise Widder, devoted, loving, and bonus daughter Amber Havard. His son, Obie "David" Yates and daughter Christine Kilgro.. His brother, Eugene (Nina) Widder, and his sisters, Gayle Dunning, Cindy (Kelly) Luker, Bonnie (Sonny) Cochran, many loving nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Devoted friends Kathy Tillman, Rick Snow, Shawn Senn, and Trandle Johnson.
Graveside services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 10am. Visitation will be 9am until service time Saturday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Pall Bearers will be Sonny Cochran, Bud Cochran, Carey Spencer III, Shawn Senn, Arnie Widder, and Norman Pryor.
