Chief Warrant Officer Wayne Johnson, U.S. Army Retired.
Born on August 29, 1945 in Creola, Alabama; passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 in Mobile, Alabama. He was surrounded by family holding his hands as he passed on to Heaven.
Wayne was a 1964 graduate of Murphy High School, where he was a member of the football team. He served his country in both the National Guard and the U.S. Army. Wayne retired after 37 years of service to the military. He loved Alabama football, and enjoyed golf after retiring. Wayne also served his community for years as a little league baseball coach. He lived a life of integrity, honor, and love. He modeled this for his family, his fellow military servicemen, and his friends. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren. Wayne will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, and patriot.
He is survived by his wife, Edie Johnson; children, Wendy (Chris) Estes, Jared Johnson, Tripp Baldwin, Justin (Erin) Baldwin; grandchildren, Ethan Estes, Sydney Estes, Logan Baldwin, Declan Baldwin, Graham Baldwin, Ava Johnson; siblings, Joseph (Shirley) Johnson, Patricia Day.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM in the chapel. Full military services will be held graveside following the chapel in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like Wayne to be honored with donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation for Wounded Veterans.
