Jimmie Gill Dodd

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmie Gill Dodd, 96, of Mobile, Alabama. Jim, as he was known by his family and friends, went to his heavenly home on November 30, 2024 with his family by his side.

Jimmie was born in Biloxi, Mississippi to Robert and Alma Gill. After the passing of his mother he was adopted by Leo and Ruth Dodd of Mobile. He remained a citizen of Mobile for the remainder of his life.

Jimmie was a devoted husband of 76 years to the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Dodd. He was a loving and devoted Father and always loved having the house full of family and friends.

Jimmie graduated from Murphy High School in 1947 and immediately joined the U.S. Navy. He then went on to serve with the Marine Force Recon for 17 years, becoming a paratrooper and jump master.

Jimmie was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Jean Dodd, and his adopted parents, Leo and Ruth Dodd. The family takes great comfort in knowing he is happily in heaven celebrating his reunion with Jean, his love, and his parents.

Jimmie is survived by his two sons, James Clifton Dodd (Lynn) and Roy Dale Dodd (Donna), his three daughters Debra Ann Dodd Robinson, Jeanmarie Dodd Hastings and Donna Lynn Dodd Hudson(Adam), 13 grandchildren, plus many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be December 6, 2024 from 1 - 2 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens, followed by a graveside service at 2 PM.
