Former resident of Mobile, Joann Dyess Faggard, 89, passed from this life to her eternal home on January 21, 2022. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 26, at Mobile Memorial Gardens in the chapel at 10 AM with visitation beginning at 9 AM.
Mrs. Faggard was born in State Line, Mississippi on May 21, 1932, to Henry Clay and Mary Vea Risen Dyess. They moved to Mobile in January 1942. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1949 and married Charles Douglas Faggard on August 25, 1950. She had 3 children and enjoyed being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved keeping a tidy, well-decorated home and cooking for her family. She was an avid reader, one of her favorite pastimes.
She was a faithful member of Toulminville Baptist Church for many years, having made her profession of faith and being baptized at age 11. Toulminville Baptist eventually relocated and was renamed Woodmont Baptist Church where she continued her membership. She was a Sunday School teacher of senior high girls for many years. Later on, Mrs. Faggard and her husband, Charles, became members of Woodridge Baptist Church where they have both served the Lord in that church for 29 years.
Mrs. Faggard was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clay and Mary Vea Risen Dyess; son, Charles Michael (Mike) Faggard; son-in-law, John Jeffrey (Jeff) Gonzalez.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 71 years, Charles Douglas Faggard; daughters - Angela Faggard Gonzalez and
Lisa Faggard Wright; daughter-in-law, Kathy Miller Faggard; 5 grandchildren - Natalie Gentry, Lindsey (Daran) Manning, John Michael (Jordan) Faggard, Lauren (Lee) Lovitte, Katie (Brent) Anderson, and honorary grandson, Ricky Hargett; 9 great-grandchildren - Abigail Lovitte, Ella Manning, Levi Lovitte, Harper Faggard, Rhett Lovitte, Beau Charles Faggard, Miller Anderson, Caroline Faggard, and Mary Elizabeth (Mae) Anderson - arriving in about 2 weeks; sister, Betty Morgan; brother Bill Dyess; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens in the chapel on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 9 AM with the service beginning at 10 AM.
Pallbearers will be Daran Manning, Lee Lovitte, Ricky Hargett, John Michael Faggard, Brent Anderson, and Ken Morgan.
