Joe Homer Jones passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at his home in Mobile with family by his side. He was 95 years old. "Popsicle," as he has been called for the last couple of years, because he was so sweet, was preceded in death by his father and mother, Homer and Mamie Jones, his wife of 23 years, Flora Shaw Jones, and wife of 40 years, Mildred Doughty Jones. Also, three brothers, Tommy, Donald and Bob Jones.
He is survived by three children, Anthony "Tony" Dallmann-Jones, Linda Goff (Ralph), and Sandy Ewing. He is all survived by his brother, Johnny Jones and sisters, Meron Munger (Roy), Patricia Joens, Barbara Chappelle (Jimmy), and Cheryl Lawrence (John).
Pops was a USMC WWII veteran, serving with the 3rd Engineering Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. After the war, he returned to Alcoa, where he retired after 30 years of service in 1976. He moved to Paris, Tennessee where he became active in the Paris Rotary Club. He served in many positions, including President, and was a Paul Harris Fellow.
Many men walk this earth, but few could even come close to this "Hero." He taught so many of us the meaning of unconditional love.
