John Malcolm Adam, a long time resident of Mobile, Al. Died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents, George K. Adam and Ethel Adam and beloved wife, Marian Bryant Adam; a daughter, Erica Adam; son, John Stacey Adam and stepson Larry Glen Bryant; a brother George Edmond Adam, and sister, Betty Mereck; granddaughters, Jamie Hunter and Ivy Nichole Adam; great granddaughter Mabel Lalani Adam; step grandson, William (Biscuit) Ladnier and step great grandson, Austin Hunter Champion. His survivors include his children: Sharon L. Kennedy (Don), Thomas K. Adam (Tracy), Renee Adam, Anna Adam and Peter C. Adam (Melissa) and step children: Delores Davis, Verna Bryant and Clarence (Bubba) Bryant (Beverly); sisters, Jean and Mary (Sis). He also leaves 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He served his country for 20 years in the US Navy. His service included duty during World War II and the Korean conflict. He retired as a chief gunners mate. After retiring from the service he was employed by various companies and in various locations in quality control including: Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock Co, Va.; Morrison Knudsen Corp., Saratoga Springs New York; ExonNuclear (Saudis Arabia); Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, Idaho Falls, Idaho. He also served for 15 years in the Bonneville, County Jeep Search and Rescue in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After retiring he moved to Mobile, AL, and was deputized in the Mobile Sheriff Department and served the Mobile County Sheriff Flotilla. He met and married Marian and enjoyed his life with family and friends. His hobbies included traveling around the country to visit his children and fulfilling his bucket list with activities such as zip lining, sail gliding and tandem sky diving. He was the family photographer and an avid supporter of the Conde Cavaliers. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 12450 Irvington-Bayou La Batre Hwy.
