John Edward Nichols, Jr.

John Edward Nichols, Jr., 72, lifelong resident of Mobile County, passed from this world April 16, 2020 with his devoted wife of 33 years by his side.

Born February 25, 1948 to John (Sr.) & Marie (LeBeau). He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Marie Webb.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, children Ken (Martha) Nichols, Daniel (Nicole) Nichols, Melissa (Steve) Lindsey, and step-son Johnny Fesler. He is also survived by brothers Charles (Phebe) and Raphael, sisters Mabel Smith, Merle (John) Vignes, and Minette (John) Elder, an abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He enjoyed his guitar, writing songs, and playing music with his closest and lifelong friends. John could always be counted on for a good joke, especially at others’ expense. Mostly he enjoyed being a grandfather and cutting grass on his riding lawnmower.

He attended McGill High School and Southwest Technical School where he learned to be a draftsman. He retired from Thompson Engineering after many years of being a structural designer. He was loved by everyone he came across and left a lasting impression on all.

A viewing will be held Thursday April 23rd at 11:30 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at 1 p.m. at the cemetery. Flowers and remembrances may be sent to Mobile Memorial Gardens.
