John Paul Taylor was called home on February 7th, 2017. He passed suddenly at his home in Mobile, Alabama. He was born on September 12th, 1943 in Buckatunna, Mississippi to John Roland and Pauline Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Joan (Maloy) Taylor. He is survived by his son John Michael Taylor, daughter in-law Julie (Hinds) Taylor, two grandsons Jack and David Taylor, sisters Diane Pugh (Clifford) and Deborah Kallhoff, and many loving nieces and nephews.
After graduating Vigor High School in 1961, John attended Jones County Junior College, University of Alabama, and Southern Mississippi University eventually earning two Masters degrees. In his early 20's he taught history at K. J. Clark Middle School in Chickasaw, Alabama. After teaching, John began a career as a vocational rehabilitation counselor in the Mobile area. John was also a realtor with Century 21 for several years and was currently an agent with Roberts Brothers where he also served as a mentor for new realtors. John passed away a day shy of his 15 year anniversary with Roberts Brothers.
John was an elder at Overlook Presbyterian Church in Mobile, where he sang in the choir and served his church family for many years. Some of his favorite things to do were serving the Lord, spending time with his son, watching his grandsons play sports, spending time with his sisters, traveling, singing karaoke, watching the Antique Road Show, and taking care of his dog Jake.
John was quick to make anyone in the room laugh and left a lasting impression on almost everyone he met. His dedication to the Lord, his kindness, and his loving heart will be remembered forever.
Visitation will be held on Friday February 10, 2017 beginning at 12:30 at Mobile Memorial Gardens. A service and graveside blessing will follow.
