John Richardson

RICHARDSON

John Richardson (April 1934-November 2019) was a loving husband to Pearl and a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, a respected colleague, and a good friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a brother, and two sisters.

John was a veteran of the United States Navy. As an active member of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Flotilla for 47 years, he was an expert in shepherding groups of flotilla members. He served as Captain for ten years. During his service, they often succeeded in memorable fashion in countless search and rescue missions.

John was a wonderfully dedicated, kind, brave, calm, and faithful man who lived a life of service and responsibility. He was a person of great integrity, love, and compassion. Above all, John believed in family, faith, hard work, independence, and service to his community.

John touched many lives, and countless people will never forget him. He always attempted to give peace and closure to families of the lost by either finding and rescuing or returning the missing to the family.

Visitation at Mobile Memorial Gardens will be held on November 15 from 12:00 until 2:00. Following this a memorial celebration service of John’s life will be held graveside with Chaplains Ron Pierce and Phil Snodgrass officiating. Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please honor John by helping strangers in need or donations to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Flotilla (P.O. Box 9916, Mobile, AL 36691).
