Johnnie "Buck" Clifton Sheffield, Sr., a native of Thomasville, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away peacefully in his home Monday, January 15, 2018 at the age of 87. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean War on the front lines. He retired from Bell South Telephone Co. after 37 years of service, and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Creighton Sheffield and Euna Pearl Goodman Sheffield, and a daughter, Linda Jo Sheffield. His survivors include his devoted wife of 62 years, Mary Catherine Yarbrough Sheffield; five children, Brenda Sheffield (Steve) Taylor; Johnnie Clifton (Jamie) Sheffield, Jr., Steve A. (Becky) Sheffield, and Stoney Glen Sheffield; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, January 18, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
