Jonathan Marcus (Mark) Smith passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Smith; father, John Marcus Smith; and mother, Georgia Ann Copeland Smith Hilton. He is survived by his wife, Tonya M. Smith; sons Marcus Eugene (Ashley); Daniel Brian (Tina) and Aaron Travis (Shealyn); Nine grandchildren, Olivia, Trevor, Daniel, Ramona Kay, Travis, Georgia Brooke, Luke, Charlotte and Wade; Sister, Patricia (Tommy); Niece, Christina (Clayton) and nephews Billy (Mandy) and Laiten. He also leaves behind many Cousins, Aunts and Uncles and extended family members.
Mark was a member of Wilmer First Baptist church. He loved his family and looked forward to the many family gatherings with lots of good food, and family games. He loved to fish, hunt, and play golf and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his boys. He was happiest when was on the ball field. He shared his love of baseball with his children and grandchildren and was truly a master of the game. Nothing brought him more joy than to coach T-ball to the little ones, seeing the excitement on their faces and sharing the joy of wins, while comforting them through the losses. His son said it best, If there is T-ball in Heaven, he will surely win the League. He will be remembered most for his love of the game and the enthusiasm he shared with all those he coached through the years. Go in Peace, Sweet Soul. You will truly be missed, and are loved by many friends and family.
Services for Mark will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
