Joseph Michael Harnish, 64, a long-time resident of Irvington, Alabama died peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at home. He was born on November 21, 1959, to the late Virginia Swinson and Delbert Harnish in Norfolk County, Virginia.
Joe is survived by his daughter Melissa Nicole Harnish Wagner (Bobby), two wonderful grandsons, Kael Jaxen and Kaed Robert. He is also survived by his siblings, Dennis Harnish (Jeanie), Pam Hicks, Melodi Anne Turner (Bobby), & David Harnish (Cynthia), along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Joe had many passions throughout his life. He loved his dog, Banjo; you would not see him out and about without his beloved dog. He really enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends and was always ready for an adventure. Just a few of his favorite things were collecting watches, reading, kayaking, visiting New Orleans, staying in the Tennessee mountains, and going on cruises. He had a love for collecting and shooting different types of guns.
In the last few years of his twenty years of working at Chipco, he would bring Banjo with him to be his sidekick. This was very evident by the way Banjo's white fur was nearly black after one shift of work; it was a sight to see.
Joe's life will be honored at Mobile Memorial Gardens at 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. A viewing will be held at 10:00am at the funeral home followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. There will be a luncheon after funeral services for attendees at the Parish Hall.
