Joseph "Joe" Claude Landry, a native of Lafayette, LA and longtime resident of Bayou La Batre and Mobile, AL, died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the age of 94. He was a master carpenter. Joe and two of his brothers, Roy and Shine, owned Landry Boat Works. They built the famous Landry Wooden Trawlers. He loved to go fishing and oystering at Cedar Point. He was a US Navy veteran and served in World War II from 1942 until 1945. When he returned to Bayou La Batre after the war, he married Hazel Radcliffe Landry. Hazel died in l978. In 1980 he married Rebecca Brewer Kelly who passed away in 2013. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Landry and Emma Breaux Landry and his nine siblings, Rosemary Landry Hartley, Theresa Landry Dorman, Cora Landry McGallagher, Agnes Landry Ishee, Rena Landry Collura, Roy Landry, Bobby Landry, Whitney Landry and Wilbert Paul "Shine" Landry. His survivors include his two sons, Darrel (Genny) Landry and Claude Rena (Kay) Landry; grandchildren, Melissa Landry (Wade) Mitchell, Pamela Landry (Brandon) Baker and Joseph Clinton (Elizabeth Suzanne) Landry; great-grandchildren, Grayson Mitchell, John Braden Mitchell, Joseph Hughes Landry, Amelia Kay Landry, Maggie Elizabeth Landry, Charlie Wright Baker, Jackson Zhenning Baker; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
