Joseph George "Joe" Loftin passed away on November 8, 2021 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Joe was born October 16, 1951 in Provo, Utah and he was raised and spent most of his life in Mobile, Alabama. After graduation from B. C. Rain High School, he attended and obtained his BA and then his Masters at the University of South Alabama. He played first base for the USA Jaguars under Coach Eddie Stanky. Mr. Loftin began his professional career as a teacher and coach at Murphy High School. Except for a several years when he left the state to work in Louisiana, he spent his career teaching and coaching football, baseball and other sports at Murphy High School and Shaw High School. He retired in December 2016. He was a family man who loved sports and was an avid golf player. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Frank T. Loftin and Bonnie Cromer Loftin. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Rhodes Loftin, and children Bonnie Anne Loftin and James Leonard Daugherty (Angela), grandsons Gabriel Joseph Daugherty and Declan Phillips Daugherty; brothers Mike Loftin (Linda) and Ted Loftin (Lisa), and nephews Mike Loftin Jr. and Kyle P. Loftin (Ally) and great niece and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, November 12, 2021 with visitation from 1:00pm until service time at 2:00pm.
