Josephine Hughes

Josephine Crigler Hughes, age 78, died on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Mobile, AL. She was born in Columbus, MS, then lived in Crawford, MS before relocating to Mobile with her family when she was three years old. She was the youngest of seven children and graduated from Murphy High School. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Joseph Hughes, Sr.; her parents, Walter Leigh Crigler, Jr. and Hallie York Crigler; and siblings Martha Crigler Cox, Harry York Crigler, Ann Crigler Pouncey, and Walter Leigh Crigler III.
Josephine is survived by her children, Patrick Joseph Hughes, Jr.; Laura Hughes Cummings (Ben) and Jennifer Hughes Laurent; four grandchildren, Benjamin Cummings, Ila Cummings, Joseph Hughes and Jackson Hughes, all of Mobile; one sister, Wylodean Leigh of Chattanooga, TN and one brother, Richard Crigler of Mobile.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations in Josephine's honor may be made to Catholic Social Services, 188 S. Florida St., Mobile, AL 36606.
