Joyce Horn, 80, passed away at home on Wednesday surrounded by her family. Joyce was born February 23, 1939, in Mobile and lived there her whole life. She was a majorette at Murphy High School, class of '57, then went to work for Courtaulds in Axis, Alabama during the late 50's and early 60's. She retired from Mobile Baldwin Warehouses, Inc.
Joyce was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time in
the outdoors with her husband of 56 years, Claude. They both could be
found fishing at Dauphin Island, or hunting in either Choctaw County or Troy, Alabama.She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Bruce and Vera Thomley Pittman, and one sister, Vera Pittman Parker.
She is survived by her husband Claude, three sons, W.Bruce Winfield
(Lea), Greg L.Winfield (Lynne), and Mark C.Horn, one daughter Pamela H.Rose (James), and one sister Ethel Lois Owen (Bill) of Columbus, Ms.
Survivors also include grandchildren Lauren Rose Huckabee (T.D.), Nicholas Rose, Brittany Winfield Roberts (Dan), Lindsey McFerrin Dunbar (Stuart), Mary Katelin Summerlin (Trey), and great grand-children James and Rose Huckabee.
The family wants to give our sincere and warmest thanks to the
caregivers who have been with us for so long, Darlene, Rebecca, Alice,
and Angie, thank you for taking such excellent care of Joyce. And special thanks to Kindred Hospice for making it possible to keep her at home. Funeral services will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday March 23, 2019 at 12 noon. Visitation will start at 10 am. Burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens We ask that donations be made in lieu of flowers to The Alzheimer's Association at ALZ.org.
