Judith E. Farragut Ord passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, in Mobile, AL, after a brief stay in the hospital. She was 84.
Born on September 1, 1940, in Pascagoula, MS, her long life was devoted to her children and her Catholic faith. She loved to read, play bridge, and bowled for years. An avid gardener, she could make anything bloom, but her true passion was as the matriarch of a large and loving family. Like the flowers of her beloved daylily gardens, she nurtured each of her children with care and was exceedingly proud of how they blossomed.
As generous with her friends and neighbors as she was with her household, she was always willing to lend a hand or a cup of sugar or friendly advice. They quickly became part of her extended family wherever she called home - from Pascagoula to Miami and Mobile.
She had a craving for sweets and an equal appetite for cooking. Her fried shrimp was the focal point of family gatherings around the holidays. The times surrounded by food, fellowship, friends, and family made her truly sparkle.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Ruth (Murray) and Fay Adam Norwood, Sr., brother, Fay Adam Norwood, Jr., her husbands, Robert (Rocky) Nicholas Farragut and John Dale Ord, and grandson, Steven Nicholas Beasley.
She is survived by her children, Lisa (Mike) Beasley of Tallahassee, FL, Scott (Stephanie) Farragut of Moss Point, MS, Andy Farragut of Mobile, Angela (Scott) Straus of Coppell, TX, Jennifer (Matt) Martin of Hattiesburg, MS, MaryAnne (John) Rosenberger of El Paso, TX, Johnny Nunez of Marietta, OH, Walter (Kim) Ord, of Gautier, MS, Mat (Amy) Ord of Murfreesboro, TN, Mike (Caris) Nunez of El Paso, TX, Clifford (Christi) Ord of Decatur, AL, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Our Savior Catholic Church and the American Heart Association.
