Julia Norton Foster, a native of Hazlehurst, MS and longtime resident of Natchez, MS and Mobile, AL, passed away at her home after a brief illness on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the age of 86. Julia was a longtime member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mae Julia Norton; her sister, Sylvia Oestreicher; and her brother, Ernest "Sonny" Norton. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles E. Foster; her son, Bruce (Kim) Foster of Birmingham, AL; her daughter, Nancy (Ted) Arnette of Mobile, AL; her granddaughter, Amanda Arnette of Birmingham, AL; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Gene Carnathan, John Gray, Maurice Jones, Nick Oestreicher, Bill Parker and Derrell Thomas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mrs. Foster's name be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Brantley Parsley, will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
