June Yvonne Brooks Shepherd was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Chandler Shepherd and her son, Tony Eugene Gentry. Her surviving family members include Valerie B. Gentry, Gloria Homan, and Evelyn Rainbolt. Mrs. Shepherd was also blessed with 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. June was born in 1932 in Sylacauga, AL, the daughter of Homer and Nila Brooks. She was previously wed to Eugene Wilson Gentry who passed away in 2001 after 27 years of marriage, traveled with the US Air Force and came to settle in Mobile, AL and called it home. She was loved, admired and respected her entire life by everyone who knew her. She will be missed dearly. We will love you for eternity, our beloved mother, grandmother and best friend. Until we meet again, may God bless us all. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
