Karl Milton Hoven, Sr., age 79, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Karl served his country honorably in the United States Army for 40 years, earning the rank of 1st Sgt. and worked full-time for the civil service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Post 637 in Citronelle, Alabama and was a member and past president of a mystic society in Mobile, Alabama. Karl was an outgoing people person and would help anyone he could. He loved Alabama football and spending time with his family.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Kirven and Nonie Hoven; brothers, J.B. Hoven and Earl Chapman Hoven; ans sisters, Mamie Ruth Sullivan, Maggie Hicks, and Mable Hoven.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Hoven; sons, Milton Hoven and wife, Misty, and Michael Hoven and wife, Heather; grandchildren, Ashley Higdon and Blaine Hoven; great-grandchildren, Madison Higdon and Makinley Higdon; sister, Ruby Dean Henson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Polk, Grady Copeland, Tommy Ezell, Dean Mansfield, Bobby Smith, and Robby Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Wilson, James Smitherman, Rick Richardson, John Byrd, Condie Ray Hoven, Kenneth H. Hoven, James Bruce Hoven, James Cromwell, Glenn Blankenship, and Conrad Reid.
