Obituary for Kazuko I. Burch
Kazuko Ikegami Burch, 94 years of age
Beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother, passed peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2022 in the presence of loved ones. She was born on November 17, 1927 in Tokyo, Japan. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clyde A. Burch, and her daughter Sally Lynn Phillips. She is survived by children Betty B. Bullock (James), grandchildren Misa Bullock (Mark), J. Hamilton Bullock (Samantha), Henry A. Bullock (Cassandra), Harrison B. Bullock (Ashley), Elizabeth Bullock (Reed), Rose M. Stabler, grandchildren, Alexa Adams (Hunter), Marrisa Stabler (Dave Lane), David Burch (Mary Margaret), grandchildren, Megan, Coleman, and Mary Addison, Daniel Burch (Lori), grandchildren, Joshua G. Burch, Mary Isabella Mangino (Dominic), Lilli Lawrence.
Great grandchildren include: Annabelle, Henry, Clyde and Weston Bullock and J. K. Adams.
She came to the United States as a Japanese war bride and lived in various locations throughout the country with her military husband. For many years, while her husband served in the military, she raised her five children alone. Her children will always remember her as being small in stature, but a giant in terms of intelligence, independence, strength and resilience.
Kazuko was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. A visitation for Kazuko will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 251 North Craft Hwy., Chickasaw, AL 36611, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Kazuko will be laid to rest in Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL.
