BENBOW
Lee Ann Burt Benbow, age 46, died after a long courageous battle with cancer on August 17, 2018 in Mobile, AL. Lee was born December 17, 1971. From the time of her birth to her death she nurtured the people around her with love, faith and music. She was a 1989 graduate of Theodore High School, a 1994 graduate of Southern Miss with a Degree in Music for flute performance, and she received a Master of Education Degree from South Alabama in 1998 Lee was a Music and Spanish teacher at St. Dominic Catholic School and she also taught Music in the Arlington and Houston, Texas areas. She was a member of AMEA, NAFME, AOSA, and TMEA. She played with the Mobile Symphonic Pops. Lee accepted Christ at the early age of 6 at Magnolia Springs Christian School. She is a current member of First Baptist Tillman's Corner where she served in the orchestra. Lee lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures and had the ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. The hymn by B.B. McKinney, "Let Others See Jesus In You" could have been the script for her adult life, because she had such a passion for missions and sharing the love of Christ everywhere she went. From the mission fields in Mexico, Guatemala, Uruguay and El Salvador to the halls of the Cancer Treatment Center in Tulsa, OK. Wherever Lee went, she brought joy, hope, and encouragement. She made a difference. Lee is preceded in death by her grandparents Embry and Willie Ferguson and Billy Burt. She is survived by her parents, James and Tomi Burt of Mobile; her son, David Embry Benbow of Mobile; her brother, Jimmy Burt (Jodi); Grandmother Mary Burt; and nieces, Payton and Michaela of Grand Bay. Visitation will be Monday, August 20, 2018 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at First Baptist Tillman's Corner. Funeral service will be Tuesday August 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Tillman's Corner with interment to immediately follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens. A very special thanks to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, OK and to the nurses of 4 NE Station at Mobile Infirmary. In lieu of flowers, Lee requested donations be made to St Dominic Catholic Church for benefit of Sister Parish Our Lady of Lourdes Music Program in El Salvador or First Baptist Tillman's Corner Orchestra.
