Leland Ersell Beck, Jr., Coach Beck, a native of Sweet Water, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away at home with his family in attendance on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Ersell Beck, Sr. his sister, Margaret Tucker his brother, Jack Beck and great grandson, Kai Beck. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Louise Odom Beck two children, Gary Russell Becky Beck, Sr. and Dana Beck Scott Seale 6 grandchildren, Laura Chris Rolison Russ Jill Beck, Brooks Beck and Hon Nguyen, Garrison
Beck, Meaghan Seale and Hunter Seale 4 greatgrandchildren brother, Charles Shirley Beck brotherinlaw, Lewis Janelle Odom other relatives and friends. Mr. Beck was a longtime coach in the Mobile County Public School System. After leaving the coaching profession, he became the President and CoOwner of Mobile Pulp Paper. He retired in l990. During his retirement he continued to enjoy spending time with his family, golfing, hunting and vacationing in Destin, FL. Coach was many things, an excellent athlete, history buff, avid sports fan and a wonderful family man. Those closest to him will always remember his kind giving heart, willingness to help anyone less fortunate and in need of a helping hand. Coach demonstrated this throughout his walk in this life. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1900 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The interment will be private.
