Leonard Hart

Leonard Hoopes Hart, 74, of Mobile, AL passed away at 11:53 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018. He was born February 7, 1944 in Wendell, Idaho to Glen Robert Hart and Gwendolyn Irene Hoopes Hart.He received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Idaho in 1966, attended law school for a year, and later earned a Master's Degree from Murray State. He taught Data Processing at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA, and later served as head of the Computer Science Department at Paducah Community College in the early 1970's. He continued to work as a computer programmer throughout his life, first as an independent contractor, and eventually taking a full time position with a former client, Scotch Gulf Lumber, where he worked the next 25 years until retirement last year. He was a professional photographer, a skilled square-dancer, enjoyed woodworking, crafts, cooking, and was an avid reader-typically reading a book a day. He also started a dating business, "Hart Match," long before computer dating became popular. Leonard is survived by his wife of 20 years, Shirley Driskell Hart. He was the father of two sons from his first marriage, Stephen (Dawn) Hart and his five children, Micah, David, Avery, Jacob and Haley, and Brandon (Trenna) Hart and his two children, Bryce and Raleigh. Leonard is also survived by a step-son, Patrick (Susan) Griffin and his son, Charlie; a step-daughter, Kimberly (Eddie) Bond and her children, Shelby and Griffin; all of his brothers and sisters, Robert Hart, Wayne Hart, Connie Krammer and Nancy Metheny; other relatives and friends. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend and will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Pine Crest West Cemetery.
