Leslie Frierson

Leslie Louise Frierson, 56, passed away on December 10 in Mobile, Alabama. Leslie was born on September 24, 1968, to Beverly Atkins Frierson and Colonel Donald McMillan Frierson Sr. in Fort Worth, Texas.

Leslie graduated with her Masters Degree in Education. She retired after 24 joyful years teaching at Theodore High School, where she completed her student teaching and was offered a full time position at the time of completion. She loved her school and her students dearly. She sponsored the Student Council, Key Club, Sophomore Class, Junior Civitan and the Friends of Animals Club, where she was passionate about helping and rescuing animals. Her students worked diligently to help the various rescue organizations in Mobile by providing blankets, food, and even fostering dogs when needed. Although Leslie never had any children, she was known as "Momma Fri" to many of her students. Her students remember her as a kind and caring teacher. She loved to decorate for school events. A-Hall was always decorated for homecoming and her school spirit was contagious. As she told her students, "Everything is better with a little glitter!"

She is survived by her sister Ashley (Theo) Atkinson , her brother Donald (Julie) Frierson Jr. (Julie), three nephews Drake (Kelsey) Atkinson, Hunter Atkinson, and Sage Atkinson as well as one great niece Anniston Atkinson alongside many friends and former students who loved her dearly. The world was a better place because she was in it. She will be missed.

Leslie was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Funeral arrangements have been made through Mobile Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on December 26, 2024. Memorial service will begin at noon immediately followed by Interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Bayou La Batre.
