Lillian Hazel Pitts DuBose, a native of Wayne County, MS and longtime resident of Wilmer, AL, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the age of 98. Lillian retired from the City of Mobile after many years of service as secretary in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mobile Police Department. She was a member of Moffett Road Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and spending time with her family, grandchildren. Lillian was most happy when she had a baby in her arms. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Mabry Pitts and Fannie Emma Strickland Pitts; her husband, Oscar Clyde DuBose, Sr.; a daughter, Shirley Louise DuBose Jimerson; a son, Oscar Clyde DuBose, Jr.; three brothers, Burnon, John "JD" and Clayton Pitts and five sisters, Irene Pitts Howard, Ruby Nell Pitts Shows, Zelline Pitts Loper, Aloise Pitts and Marion Pitts Rigney. Her survivors include two daughters, Dorothy DuBose Ison and Kathryn DuBose Lethbridge; three sons, Billy J. (Towana Sue) DuBose, John P. (Yesi) DuBose and Phillip S. (Annie) DuBose; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
