Linda Strickland Bodiford (Lovey to her grandchildren), age 73 of Mobile and Dauphin Island, Alabama slipped quietly from this life on Earth March 18, 2021 to an everlasting life in Heaven. Linda had many passions in this life. First and foremost, Linda loved and will forever be loved by her family and friends. She played women's softball until the age of 40 and coached little league t-ball, softball and baseball until the age of 70. Linda was an avid bowler and a women's bowling champion in both Mobile and Baldwin county. On warm spring and summer days you could find Linda with fishing rod in hand fishing off the boardwalk and soaking up the sun at their home on Dauphin Island. She also enjoyed traveling and camping.
Linda is survived by husband Frank Bodiford; daughters Melissa (Gaines Jr.) Coker and Jenni Bodiford; son Matthew (Jennifer) Bodiford; sisters Maggie Battle, Jeanette (Ray) Tanner, and Faye Lyndall; grandchildren Danielle (James) Traylor, Gaines Coker III, Jon Jackson Rogers, and Danica Bodiford; great-grandchild Carson Traylor; son in love Willie Rogers; and a host of beloved family and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by parents John Thomas and Grace Gardner Strickland; brother John Thomas "Tommy" Strickland, Jr. and sister Mary Agnes Strickland Callaghan.
A visitation for Linda will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10AM-Noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama 36619. A funeral service in the Mobile Memorial Gardens Chapel will be held at 12PM.
