Linda Faye Williamson Killilea passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, in Mobile, Ala. She was 73. Linda is survived by her sons David William (Alison) of Berkeley, Calif., and Daniel Christian (Jessica) of Birmingham, Ala.; her siblings Gaynelle (Gene †) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Ronnie (Kathleen) of Salley, S.C., Anne (Al) of Wagener, S.C., and Patti (Jerry) of Salley, S.C.; her nephews and nieces Rhett (Alice) of James Island, S.C., Patrick (Heidi) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Sarah Marie of Salley, S.C.; and nephews and nieces Margo, Lillian, Corbett and Virginia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert David "Bob" Killilea, and her parents, William and Ruth Grubbs Williamson. Born in Aiken, S.C., she was the second of five children in a family from the small, rural town of Salley, S.C. Linda graduated from Salley High School, where she was a cheerleader and played basketball, and attended Anderson College and Limestone College for a degree in education. While teaching at a local elementary school in Greenville, S.C., she met her husband, Bob, from Boston, Mass. They settled in Mobile, Ala., where they had both of their sons, and Linda began teaching in elementary and special education classrooms. In 1974, they joined Government Street Presbyterian Church and remained longtime members. Later, she started a second career at the church as a wedding coordinator and administrator, retiring after 25 years. Linda invested countless hours as a school volunteer and served as president of the PTA at E.R. Dickson Elementary School, Phillips Preparatory School and Murphy High School. She also had a passion for ballroom dancing. Linda was a member and Vice President of the Azalea Ballroom Dance Club, a member of the Moonlight Chass Ballroom Dance Society, a 3-year coordinator of the Pat Crumby Holiday Dances, and an avid dancer at venues all over the Gulf Coast. More than anything, she prioritized relationships with friends and family and particularly her sons, whom she was deeply proud of and loved. Linda will be buried in Mobile Memorial Gardens at a private family graveside ceremony. All are welcome at a Service of Witness to the Resurrection on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Government Street Presbyterian Church (300 Government St., Mobile, AL 36602), with the Rev. Paul Phillips presiding. Visitation will be held after the service in the church's Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Government Street Presbyterian Church or the Azalea Ballroom Dance Club.
