Linda Mcgowan

September 24, 1940 — August 8, 2021

Mrs. Linda Finch McGowan, a lifelong resident of Mobile died August 8, 2021 at the age of 80. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Linda was preceded, through the heavenly gates by her devoted husband of 58 years, John P McGowan, Sr., their son, Nello B. McGowan, her mother, Margie Byrd, and her father, John Finch, Jr.

Linda is survived by her 3 children Cheryl McGowan, Retired Chief Master Sergeant John McGowan, Jr., (Debbie), and Jeffry McGowan (Marilyn); 5 grandchildren Alicia Glasgow (Bobby), KaLin Patterson, Major John McGowan, III (Erin), Wilson McGowan and Callie McGowan; and 10 great grandchildren, Morgan, Aaron, Chase, Bailey, Paige, Gracen, Tripp, John Patrick IV, Mason and Emersyn; her sister Sandra F. Preslar (James) their daughter (niece) Penny (Joel) and granddaughter, (great niece) Kendall; sister-in-laws, Kaky, Ann and Melva, and brother-in-law, Joe; and too many wonderful nieces and nephews on the McGowan side to name.

Besides being a busy wife, mother and grandmother, Linda love to teach. She was very proud of the part she played in getting the first kindergarten class up and running at Corpus Christi School and she had the pleasure of teaching there for many years. She met some of her closest and lifelong friends through the children she taught there.
Linda will miss her Waffle House buddies where Payne Ledbetter was faithful to take her for many years.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Those planning on attending, please meet in the west parking lot at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home to join the procession to the gravesite.
