Other survivors include her brother and his wife, Orvil and Gail Skinner of Meridian, MS; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Linda was born on August 14, 1941, in Union, MS, to Leon and Mary Jane Warren. She graduated as Salutatorian of her class at Collinsville High School in 1959. After graduation from high school, Linda attended two years at Matty Hersee Hospital School of Nursing in Meridian, MS, where she studied to be a Registered Nurse.
Linda married her high school sweetheart, David L. Swearingen, in May of 1960 and joined her new husband in Mobile, AL, to begin their lives together.
Linda was a 45-plus year member of Zion Baptist Church where she served in many leadership roles, including eight years as church secretary. Most recently she was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church where she had continued serving delivering meals to homebound church members.
Linda loved art. Sketching, Painting, and Photography were lifelong hobbies. Another favorite past-time was Gardening. She enjoyed watching her hard work pay off every spring when the beautiful flowers she had planted began to bloom. Due to the long history of her family's service in the U.S. Military, Linda had the utmost respect for Veterans. She never missed an opportunity to honor all Veterans for their service.
Most of all, Linda loved her family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She lived her faith and her love for the Lord and her family to the very end of her time here on earth.
The lives she touched directly and indirectly through her children and grandchildren are countless. Linda heard the Lord say to her on December 7th, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." She is now in Heaven with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her parents and her loving husband, David.
