Linda Joyce Miller-Widder was born in Hattiesburg, MS on September 17, 1946 to her parents, Thurston and Mary Jane Miller. She graduated from Petal High School in 1964, then just a few months later married the love of her life, Arlon. At about 12:15 a.m. this past Saturday, Linda, with her eyes closed for the last time on this earth immediately awakened in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
But that does not fully encapsulate Linda Widder's life. Her life could almost be seen in two diverging halves: her first-almost forty years, consisting of her childhood, her growing up, then becoming a wife, mother, and highly accomplished executive assistant at Xerox Corporation, among her other skills typing more than 110 words per minute. The following thirty-five years were encompassed by battling numerous and almost constant health challenges. The common thread running through all the years was her intense love for her husband of almost fifty-three years, her three grown children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her precious extended family, her treasured friends, and her deep love for her Lord.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Thurston and Mary Jane Miller and her beloved husband, Dr. Arlon Widder, Sr.
She is survived by her three children-daughter, Tina Barney and her husband, Scott, daughter, Gina Byrd and her husband, Dan, and her son, Arlon Widder, Jr. and his significant, Belinda, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and her four sisters, Imogene Vogel with her husband, Clarence, Mondell Padgett with her husband, Billy, Sue Smith, and Mary Lee with her husband, John.
