BELL
Florence Louise "Weasie" Bell
Born July 22, 1943, Louise died Monday, August 29, 2016 in a local hospital with an angelic look of pure joy on her face, maybe seeing the glow of God's heavenly light fill her room as she joined her parents, T.D. and Florence Bell. A devout Catholic she chose to follow His ways and serve Him as a nun, joining the Sisters of Loretto in Kentucky after graduating from Bishop Toolen High School. She decided not to make her final vows and returned home, attended Spring Hill College, and worked at a resort in New Jersey during the summer. Art was a lifelong interest and she decided to move to the New York City area to work at an advertising agency doing copywriting and ad layout/design. In 1967, she returned to Alabama, at the beckoning of a friend from the resort, to attend Jacksonville State University, where she worked in the Dean's office till she graduated. Returning home to Mobile again, she worked for a couple of years at an insurance agency before eventually getting a job as Assistant to the Director of Advertising at the corporate office of Delchamps Grocery Store. She worked there till she retired due to a disability in 2000. Fiercely independent, she continued to live alone, insisting she could take care of herself. She continued everyday tasks of housekeeping and grocery shopping, accepting occasional assistance from relatives, friends and former neighbors. Louise kept a meticulously clean house as most anyone who stopped in to visit could affirm, believing strongly in the adage that "cleanliness is next to Godliness"! She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and "tea parties" for some very special friends. Louise is survived by her older sister, Elizabeth Bell Ward and brother-in-law, Allan Ward, of Palo Alto, CA, younger sisters Cathy Bell and Marian Bell, both of Mobile; niece Karen Ward Posselt and her husband Jason Posselt, great nephew, Timothy A. Posselt, and great niece, Molly E. Posselt, all of Danville, CA; lifelong friend, more like family, Barbara "Teeda" Kountz Melton and her husband Doug Melton, of Silverhill, AL; special cousin, Joe Dooley, and numerous other relatives and friends, too many to mention by name. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Louise's memory to the Carmelite Monastery, 716 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL 36606 or to EWTN, The Eternal World Television Network, Inc., 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210, founded by Mother Angelica, whom Louise loved and adored for all she did to spread God's word. (Louise was listening to this channel as she passed away.) A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Little Flower Catholic Church, 2053 Government Street, Mobile, AL. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 am with Fr. Alejandro (Alex) Valladares as celebrant. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
